Arizona is hands-down one of the most spectacular states in the U.S. for nature lovers, and even after countless road trips through its deserts and canyons, we still manage to stumble something new every single time.

What makes Arizona truly magical are its fiery red rock formations, deep canyons, ancient pueblos, and those wide, shimmering desert landscapes dotted with towering cacti. Many travelers cruise through the state along the legendary Route 66, but it’s well worth detouring off the main road to see the massive meteor crater, the petrified forest and of course, Grand Canyon itself.

One of the most incredible places we’ve ever visited, anywhere in the world, is Arizona’s mesmerising Antelope Canyon.

If you’re planning a trip, spring and fall are the absolute best seasons to explore Arizona. The weather is mild across the state, perfect for road tripping and hiking. We’ve visited winter too, and found ourselves driving through bursts of rain and even snow here and there. Summer, however… that’s a whole different story. Arizona summers are scorching and the monsoon thunderstorms can be intense. I highly recommend avoiding summer if you can.
