We spent a long weekend in Las Vegas with a group of friends and stayed at the Cosmopolitan Hotel. I usually visit Vegas with my family, so it was really nice to be there with just adults for change.

Officially called The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the hotel is in a prime location right on the Las Vegas Strip, literally next door to the famous Bellagio Hotel. It’s super easy to walk from there to pretty much anywhere along the main street.

The Cosmopolitan has been featured on several lists as one of the best hotels in the world. So if you are looking to treat yourself and stay somewhere a little more upscale while in Vegas, this definitely a place to keep in mind.

The Cosmopiltan of Las Vegas

The Cosmopolitan opened in 2010 and is made up of two high-rise towers: the Boulevard Tower and the Chelsea Tower. Altogether, the hotel has 3027 rooms, so it is big, bustling and full of energy.

The interior desing is very stylish, with lots of digital art installations throughout the property. I really liked the unique, modern vibe as it is a nice change from the more traditional hotels or the old fashioned theme hotels in Vegas.

The Cosmopolitan has its own casino, of course, this is Las Vegas after all, plus a huge variety of restaurants to choose from. Its conference level hosts hundreds of meetings and events throughout the year.

For an extra fee, you can enjoy the hotel’s spa services or hit the gym if you feel motivated. One fun little extra was the Drybar downstrairs, where you can sip a cocktail while getting your hair done for a night out. We loved that!

The hotel’s Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub has been ranked as one the top-grossing clubs in the U.S. The Dayclub has some outdoor pool party vibes with a live DJ spinning tracks under the sun.

We popped into Marquee one evening to dance for a bit, since female hotel guests get in for free. The club itself wasn’t anything super unique in my opinion, but it was still a fun night!

One cool thing about the Dayclub is that during the winter months, the ourdoor pool deck gets transformed into an ice skating rink. Such a fun idea!

Rooms

The rooms at the Cosmopolitan are generally divided into three main types: City Rooms, Terrace Rooms and Suites.

All the Terrace Rooms come with a balcony, and if you request it, you can even get a fountain view. That means you can watch the famous Bellagio fountain shows right from your own room which is pretty awesome!

Our group had a mix of different room types, but ours on the 42nd floor had an incredible view of the city.

One of the fun features in the Terrace rooms is the Japanese-style soaking tub, placed right next to the window. Perfect for relaxing with a view.

The room itself was really nice and clean, and we loved it.

That said, our stay got off to a bit of a weird start as pretty much everything in the room was controlled via iPad, which needed some kid of update. Lights, alarms, TV, room service… all of it was handled through the tablet. We ended up having to call for help to get it working properly.

Another small downside was that there was no coffee maker (or even an electric kettle) in the room. There was a mini fridge and well-stocked minibar, but we really would have appreciated a way to make some morning coffee before heading out for breakfast.

Restaurants

The Cosmopolitan has restaurants to suit just about every taste. But just heads up, it is best to make reservations in advance, because getting a table the same day can be tricky.

For something more casual, there’s a food court-style area called Block 16 Urban Food Hall. You order at the counter and take your food to go. The selection includes everything from juice bars to dessert shops to donut spots. Lots of fun options for a quick bite.

The most famous bar in the hotel is definitely The Chandelier. It’s set inside a giant, multi-story crystal chandelier made up of over two million crystals.

Even if you are not planning to grab a drink, it’s totally worth stopping by just to see it. It’s seriously stunning. Lots of people come to check it out even if they are not staying at the Cosmopolitan.

Another fun bar in the building is called The Ski Lodge. But to find it, you will have to solve a bit of a mystery. It’s got a secret location, and part of the fun is figuring out how to get in.

Out of the more formal ร  la carte restaurants, we tried Momofuku and China Poblano. Momofuku’s menu is inspired by flavors from Korea, Japan and the Unites States, and its original location (Momofuku Ko) in New York has been even earned two Michelin stars.

While everything we tried was definitely tasty, I wouldn’t say any of the dishes totally blew me away, especially considering the prices.

China Poblano, on the other hand, was quirky mix of different tastes from Mexico and China. Sounds odd, but it actually worked surprisingly well! Plus, it’s a great spot if you’re not super hungry and just want something lighter.

When it comes to breakfast spots, Eggslut seemed to draw the longest lines, but there are few other breakfast options in the hotel as well. On the ground floor, there’s also a Starbucks, and near the front desk you’ll find a cute little coffee place called Va Bene Caffรฉ, which has a similar vibe.

The Cosmopolitan was also hosting a show called OPM, which what I understand is kind of like Cirque du Soleil but set in outer space. It’s and adults-only show, so definitely not for kids.

We ended up skipping Opium because we had tickets to see Katy Perry instead. I totally recommend planning ahead and grabbing tickets to at least one show while you are in Vegas. Cirque du Soleil or Blue Man Group are always solid choices if you’re unsure where to start.

I have to say, out of all the hotels I’ve experienced in Las Vegas, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has been my favorite so far! The facilities are in great shape, the rooms are clean, and the location couldn’t be better.

You can book your room at Cosmopolitan from here.

I really think your hotel choice can make or break your Vegas trip. It has a big impact on what you end up doing and seeing.

There is so much to see and do in Las Vegas. At the very least, I’d recommend checking out the free attractions at the different theme hotels, visiting the Neon Museum, and exploring Fremont Street.

If you are into nature and hiking, then definitely add the stunning Valley of Fire to your list. And don’t forget about Hoover Dam, the largest dam in the U.S., it is also nearby. You’ll just need a car to reach both of those spots, but they make a great day trip.
