Pinkmas Has Taken Over the Museum of Ice Cream in SF

This week we were invited to a kids event at the Museum of Ice Cream in San Francisco. Since we have been sitting inside a house a lot lately, first due to the smoke from the forest fires and then everyone being sick, I decided that it is time to take the kids out. So we jumped into the local train after the school and headed to the city.

MUSEUM THAT TASTES LIKE ICE CREAM

I visited Museum of Ice Cream for the first time couple years ago when it opened it doors in San Francisco. At that time I wrote about my experience there, and it wasn’t only positive things. But this time our visit was totally different. On this visit, we were given as much time as we wanted in each room, and it wasn’t that crowded either. Maybe most people have visited the museum already, or maybe it was just because we were there in a middle of the week. But it definitely seems like they had learned about their mistakes because this time I felt like it was so much fun for the kids. On my first visit there, I was thinking that I wouldn’t want to bring my kids there because we were rushed from room to another, and it would have been difficult to do with kids. It didn’t seem like their focus group was kids even though the name “Ice Cream Museum” sure is something kids would love. It felt more like a place for adults who love good Instagram spots. However, this time kids were able stay and play as much as they wanted, even on that famous sprinkle pool which earlier was limited only for few minutes.

In the Museum of Ice Cream people walk trough different rooms which have many photogenic spots and backgrounds. Everything is pastel coloured, ice cream and cotton candy, disco balls and unicorns. What more can an instagrammer want? Or a kid! I was excited that they had changed the rooms quite a lot from my previous visit and it felt like a new place to me too, not just my kids. This time it felt like many things there were aimed also for kids.

MERRY PINKMAS!

The theme for this Christmas time in the Museum of Ice Cream was Pinkmas. So we were able to see all the pink Christmas decor they had added. The entrance was of course, what else than a pink slide. Before that we left our jackets and our stroller to a cloakroom. Our tour started with a sing along with the tour group and of course, with some ice cream! And more ice cream was to come later in different rooms. We even got some hot drinks made out of ice cream and some Dippin’ Dots resembling snow balls.

My kids’ favorite rooms were the ones with carousel animals or unicorns. Such that you can climb on and they move. And of course, the sprinkle pool was the big highlight! They also enjoyed decorating pink Christmas trees, drawing into guest books and making paper origamis. Our smaller one was intrigued by mechanical, wooden hands clapping on the wall. All kinds of strange things they can have in a museum! And then of course was the pool full of sprinkles at the end of the tour. It was definitely bigger than it used to be and there was no time limit how long you can stay in it. Even the plastic sprinkles had gotten bigger which was great because the old, small sprinkles where all over under your clothes after dipping into the pool. Our kids literally didn’t want to leave. They had so much fun jumping and sliding to the pool.
